New jury member...

We’re honored to have Professor Rosa Rademakers (VIB–University of Antwerp) serve on the jury for our Brain Bee! An internationally renowned neurogeneticist and scientific director of VIB-UAntwerp, Rosa Rademakers is known for groundbreaking discoveries in the genetics of neurodegenerative disease. Very recently, she received a Breakthrough Prize, often dubbed the “Oscars of Science.”

She earned this price for her 2011 discovery identifying the most common cause of two conditions at once: a shared genetic abnormality that plays a crucial role in both frontotemporal dementia and the fatal motor‑neuron disease ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
